Fall Brings All RESPA - All The Time
It's been a whirlwind couple of weeks in RESPA education world. RESPA was on the minds of Ohio Land Title Association and Indiana Land Title Association members through their annual conferences last week. This week brought two full days of RESPA training at the RamQuest User Group Conference - RESPA Fall Worksession.
There were so many attendees at each of these functions who thought they knew RESPA. But they quickly discovered that there is much work to be done in preparation for the coming change. Their biggest concern was in making sure everyone on their staff receives thorough training. They vowed to go home and get hard at work putting what they've learned into action.
At the RQUG meeting, attendees were introduced to many important changes contained in RESPA Reform by members of ALTA's RESPA Implementation Task Force. They saw the 2010 HUD at work inside their software solution, they went back to a "War Room" set up with laptops where they could enter new HUD data and see a completed 2010 HUD form. They heard from representatives from the lender community who shared insight into how lenders view the upcoming changes. Next they walked through the HUD-1 form section by section, line by line and contributed to the future development of the RamQuest product. They walked through a detailed plan to reengineer their escrow work process and heard how underwriters are preparing for the post-RESPA Reform world.
I enjoyed hearing the thoughts of industry leaders such as Alison Kaspar Gareffa from Kaspar Net, Chris Christensen of PeirsonPatterson, LLP, Wes Lasseigne of Lenders Title Company (each fellow ALTA RESPA Implementation Task Force members), not to mention Debbie Sabatini of Fidelity National Title and Paula Maurstad of Old Republic Title Company. My hats to all of the leaders in RESPA Reform! It's exciting to spend so much time with progressive minded professionals who approach this reform with a Can Do Attitude. Thanks Everyone!
